      Faster Than Light (FTL)

Seriously, buy this game. I paid $3 for it on a Steam sale a year ago, and has been the only game I've consistently played since then. It was so good, I decided to fork out $10 to also get it on my iPad.

Plus, they released a free update a few months ago that added a ton of content and variation to the game.

EDIT: Also need to add that the soundtrack is among the best of any space-themed game I've played.

Yes, yes, and yes! I haven't played the iPad version, and wonder how the touch device affects gameplay, but the Advanced free update is awesome! The music is awesome! For sure one of my favorite games ever.

I'm not a great gamer, and FTL is extremely difficult. I've only been able to beat it once so far, but seriously one of the greatest games available!

Smaller, indie games I’ve played in the last couple of years and loved:

    • VVVVVV
    • Limbo

    Both amazing.

The Stanley Parable (PC): a mind blowing story that will seriously fuck your mind.

Little Big Planet 2 (PS3): in multiplayer it's so hilarious.

Metal Gear Solid (PSX): a beautiful story. Cleared the story a lot of time.

Surprised no-one has put this down yet but FEZ.

It is a beautifully designed game. Really great to get into a meditative state for design thinking and shifting paradigms

FEZ is a beautiful game, but I can’t play it for more than 4 hours. The gameplay is just not interesting.

I started to play old Prey https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prey_(2006_video_game) a week ago, it's an old game but I heard many positive reviews about it. At the current moment I can say that it's a good one, has really interesting plot and playing interface, however it's really a scary one and rather specific in case of plot so I can't recommend it to everyone. Atmosphere in it reminds me in many ways famous Alien VS Predator games and they're really scary. I'm also trying various online games for poker and Blazing Riches slot because I adore gambling and was curious to check the virtual types of it. In general they're nice but there's so much scam for them that I've become tired of checking firstly every game I tried... Live casinos and so on seem better for me but maybe my opinion will change in future.

The PC port was horrible unless you have a controller. Great game though. Watched an EpicNameBro play-through. Awesome.

The Metal Gear Solid Series is my absolute favorite. I'm also a big fan of Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Any Persona game, The Stanley Parable, and the Uncharted series

I had Persona 4 on the Vita but couldn’t get into it. The barrier to entry is pretty tough...

MGS though, definitely. What did you think of Ground Zeroes? I thought it was great, albeit overpriced.

DayZ, the mod in vanilla (Arma II mod.) A Zombie survival mmo that will make your heart race. I haven't played PC games in years but this one brought me back. The immersion and the feels I get from this game are truly amazing.

I'm liking The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead 1 & 2 from Telltale.

I also like playing Disney Infinity and Minecraft creating stuff with the kids and although the story seems to be getting crap I have always liked the Halo series.

    Towerfall Ascension

It's free on PS+ this month (and available on (Steam for £7)[http://store.steampowered.com/sub/30725/] for another 24 hours), - if you don't invest in some controllers and get some friends round to play, you'll miss out on one of the the best multiplayer games ever. Yes. Ever.

I thoroughly recommend Antichamber. It's incredibly innovative and will severely fuck with your mind.

Also, Portal and Portal 2, for those who never played it, is also very very fun, challenging, and the writing is fantastic.

    • The Last of Us
    • Dark Souls
    • South Park The Stick of Truth

The Last of Us had an excellent story, wonderful gameplay, and the graphics were out-of-this-world for an 8yo console.

Dark Souls because it’s the most rewarding game I’ve ever played. The atmosphere, mysterious storyline & lore, online play, and gameplay make it one of the best games I’ve ever played.

South Park The Stick of Truth because it’s hilarious. Possibly some of the best video game writing I’ve witnessed in my life. It’s so true to the source and, for a licensed game, was better than expected.
