How are you going to put out a poorly-designed app for Designer News and try to charge $1 for it?
Someone has to say it clearly. It's respectable the time those guys invested on it but the design is terrible.
I'd publish it for free.
This is not official, obviously :)
would never buy something as badly designed as this. the ui is terrible!
Just needs a little more loving Antonio. We designers are a hard audience to please.
As I said, Not my work.
Good stuff, ping me maybe if you want some feedback: @jensnikolaus
Not my work.
This is HORRIBLY designed. Sorry to add to the hater posts but I feel like it gives this site and designers a bad name. On top of that you want a dollar for it... Seriously?
I like that one of my comments made it into the iTunes screenshots. I'm famous!
Oh wow, people are thinking I made this? I'm in no way associated with this app. The original name of the thread showed some of my appreciation by ending with a sarcastic "wow." I just came here to show you guys the find.
I appreciate the time the developers put into building this app, but DesignerNews isn't just another site, it's specifically FOR designers. If it was any other group, perhaps the UI would be fine as a first iteration, but if you're creating a product FOR designers, there should have been more attention paid to the visual. And since there isn't, they really shouldn't be charging us for it until there's effort made on creating a more aesthetically pleasing UI.
If they didn't want to hire a designer or put effort into designing themselves, they could have at least used assets that designers put out there for the world to use, free of charge - like the Flat UI Kit from LayerVault.
The Flat UI Kit wasn't released by LayerVault.
Ah, you're right - it's from designmodo - my mistake.
Early April fools joke?
Even if it's free I don't want it on my phone. Still hoping for a cool DN (web)app. :) Or someone should help these guys with a cool design.
You beat us to the punch!
As much as I applaud you're effort I will continue to browse the more visually pleasing DN for free on my mobile browser and await the official app which is in the works. Kthxbai.
If the App looks great and works fine I would even pay 1$. But with this Design I rather buy a Snickers® for that money.
What about an official iPhone && iPad App? Or a nice web app?
I saw somewhere, sometime, a picture of alan holding an ipad with designer news app in the making. Either that or I dreamt it, but it must be almost out
Yes. That photo exists.
That's a serious hamburger menu.
How about try some more of this: http://goo.gl/CWlQg
