Misread this as 'Moyes joins Facebook'
:) Not sure how many people would get that here.
love that! haha
Hilarious! I am curious to see where he ends up next, but I don't know that Facebook is a good career move..!
Would he make a mess there too?
Finally, an acquisition I can get upset about.
Edit: The wording of their announcement makes it unclear whether or not development of the app will continue. They say both that they're "joining Facebook’s talented team to work on building and improving their products and services" and that "Moves will continue to operate as a standalone app". So Moves will keep working, but they might not keep working on Moves.
So fucking bummed
Really? Who's not for selling?
"Moves says that there aren’t any plans to bring Moves data to Facebook’s social graph directly, or change how it operates"
Hmmm, I don't buy this. Anyway, good news for the team but not so sure about its consumers.
"There aren't any plans" means "Tonight we are gonna get so drunk on extremely expensive cocktails, and as soon as we wake up tomorrow noon we'll plan the quickest way for Facebook to make use of the data".
For people upset about this, what were you expecting from a free app that didn't have any discernable business model? That's the textbook exit-by-acquisition strategy.
It was a $2.99 app the entire time. I think it went free just recently.
Not like they really tried to make the business model happen - it was a paid app for a long time. Then they went free but didn't add anything premium. I would have happily supported a premium service.
