A few questions about LayerVault.

over 9 years ago from , Art Director

I'm currently building a case to get my rather large, somewhat archaic, agency onto LayerVault as it's been having many problems which a version control app could solve.

But I have a few questions:

How heavy is it on RAM. I find something like Dropbox quite heavy?

Does it store linked files? For example, Unlike PS, indesign pulls images from a folder. Are these images stored on LV's server or ours or both?

Are there any tutorials available?

Thanks in advance.

    We're glad to help.

The LayerVault app is comparable to the Dropbox app in terms of resource utilization. We're constantly improving performance and reliability while trying to keep resource utilization to a minimum.

We do support linked smart objects and will sync and store the images that you link to from within the InDesign file, along with the InDesign file itself (if you keep them all within a project folder). The full list of supported file formats can be found here: http://help.layervault.com/article/44-file-syncing

When you sign up, you are put through an interactive demo/on-boarding process that helps explain the basics of LayerVault. Our Help Site also has documentation on how to get started, tips & best practices, features, etc. You can find it here: http://help.layervault.com/

Feel free to send me an email and I'd be happy to help you further in building your case. I'm dave@layervault.com
