Elaborating Personas

9 years ago from , User Interface Designer

Hi guys,

So I am working on a project and I thought about using a persona. The problem is that I don't know how to gather all the informations about the "futur user" - I mean I know who am aiming to, but how to proceed to gather all the infos about that user.

Big sized companies must have some kind of database and researches about their users, in my case, we are just a small team and I'm the designer in charge. So I was wondering how can I elaborate an effective persona. Help?

Thanks =)

    Do you have any existing users you can talk to? Or some potential customers that you think you'd like to target? or even friends / family who are similar to the kind of people you'd like to target? Ask them a few questions about their internet habits and product needs and you've got the basis of a persona.

    If not, I reckon you can put together some personas yourself in a workshop with your team. Personas are really best used as a model for particular behaviours and assumptions, to allow you to ensure your designs cover off potential use cases and approaches. They're not designed to be in-depth demographic studies.
