Holy crap. Nice work Tyler.
Fantastic. Waiting eagerly to throw my money at Bohemian Coding as soon as Sketch 3 is available.
As neat as this is, no love for Android? no surprises there I guess...
Sure, just make 35 slightly different sized artboards and scale accordingly :)
Don't know how symbols are supported, but could use that temporary till they include that in.
Symbols work as repeating groups, i.e. everything inside a "symbol" container is editable, and those edits will appear everywhere else the symbol is used... Pretty awesome, live updating..
so are they currently self contained in the specific .sketch file or can you point it to a specific symbols folder on your machine?
You can save symbols and manage them in Sketch (as well as layer and text styles)- so they are available in any file you are working on. Not sure what you mean pointing to a folder though, you can only create and edit within Sketch. But it works really well.
cool, I was thinking of the something like how sketch handle its plugin now. Good to know that its not tied down to within one .sketch file.
Once I get Sketch 3.0 I will convert the AVUIK project to symbols.
I really LOVE Sketch but I am little bit worried about shipping things inside of Sketch, because I want it as simple as it can be.
Creating plugin network like Sublime Text did wouldn't be much more good solution? After they can easly recommend good plugins like iOS 7 GUI template by Teehanlax for example when your first time to create iPhone artboard on Sketch.
What I don't like is, this is also about taking sides. Sketch should be side of simplicity , not Apple or Android. I hope you guys understand what I am trying to say.
This is a lovely idea. I predict that is what happen. Remembers current artboards, we have some screen-sizes but not all of them because user can do manually.
I wish Bohemian keep Sketch simple as hell. Just optimize vector tool and smart objects for me.
It's already there in the current Sketch 3 build and the way they implemented it, it's a convenient shortcut. By the look of things they're adding more templates that all follow a similar feel - there's a generic one for web design, see no reason why Android can't be next. It's kinda like Keynote or Pages but less in your face, I really see no harm in that.
Also it looks better structured than the default Teehan & Lax one, though it doesn't cover the app specific UIs.
I think you'll be happy with the implementation that the guys at bohemian coding are working on. It's extremely lightweight.
I seriously don't get why PS is the current standard for UI design. It's for PHOTOS.
Actually I do get it. The old web was pretty much tables and sliced images which worked fine with Photoshop for all those fancy textures and gradients, and by then no one was using anything else and tools were made for PS alone.
I'm tempted by Sketch, but it still strikes me as far behind Illustrator.
Very awesome. Will provide a good learning experience for those not totally familiar with creating elements in Sketch, too.
Great news! Really happy for you Tyler.
This is awesome news! I hope there is an omnigraffle like palette menu
Amazing. Sketch 3 is sounding better by the day.
Game-changer. Shipping relevant content/assets with your software is brilliant.
Feels like we're being "hooked up, bro".
