Ha. I've been so confused with this since iOS 7.1 came out.
Ah shit, right. That. :]] nice
Here's a relevant look at the previous iterations: https://twitter.com/jaredsinclair/status/427834953011695616
I'm not sure I quite get this fad of complaining out the new shift key. Yes it's different, but we've got ourselves used to changes in operating systems before (admittedly this is similar to the old one)...
...but this design makes much more sense considering the role of the key compared to the letter keys and then the other functional keys...
It's only taken me about a day and a half to get used to it.
I don't think it's a fad. It's a real concern. It still catches me out.
its not that its confusing.. its not sufficient. when typing with two thumbs, its obscured, so you still have no visual cue of what case you're about to use.
I still get confused by it.
Either I don't get it or it's not working. Windows/FF
It's an Apple thing....
Thank you. That shift key is terrible.
Just make the god damn button blue when it's on.
For what it's worth, it's not as confusing in apps that use the dark keyboard, like Tweetbot.
I completely agree. It is a shame that they dropped the blue from iOS 6, and didn't opt for something really obvious, like a border.
A blue highlight is still used for the action keys, like Search and Go anyway, so I don't think it would have been out of place for caps lock.
Here’s looking forward to iOS 8!
Here's to hoping iOS 8 is compatible on my devices.
exactly why there needs to be a lowercase keyboard. its not hard: http://drbl.in/hWSf
wow, didn't realize iOS did not have this already. one of the major advantages of an on-screen keyboard is that it's appearance can change in different contexts.
As a windows user I spent some time to understand, but I got it :)
since 7.1 cAme out, I spenT more Time fiddling witH my shIft key to get Sentences riGht. Please ExcUse my sHifty typO.
You should windows as well, not everyone will have mac.
In iOS7.0, the shift key is with white background when it is off.
In iOS 7.1, the shift key color reversed. The on status is now with light background as the other character keys. It could be a reason to change the shift key color with this reason. To represent it is active as other active key style.
The problem is, other than the keyboard in light-grey, there is the other keyboard with dark-grey color scheme. The character keys are all in dark grey background while the shift key keeps off with the dark grey background. It is really strange to turn it on and see the shift key is the only one with the white background.
Yeah. It still confuses me :P
