I don‘t think this would be a good idea. Seems like the want Email to be something that Email isn‘t supposed to be:

“We believe that email is about two things. Reading and writing.”

Email isn't a medium to write or read long form articles. Email is about communication. Also, this concept won‘t work for HTML mails (and stripping everything from the Mail won’t help)

We don‘t have the necessary control over the content and the platform where the mail is read on.

Their bad example show Mail.app in fullscreen with the worst possible reading setting possible. If you don‘t like the small font, you can always increase it in the settings. After that, exit full screen mode. Problem solved.

I think that's a good point. How often do you need to sit down to read a long email? Most emails I received are 1-2 paragraph max.

I think https://letshum.com/ is a more realistic approach at reinventing what email clients should look like.

Saw this the other day (think it was posted here).

Frantically searched for the link to download and then very disappointed when I realised it was a concept rather than an email client!

The biggest problem here is that due to legacy software, styling isn't always up to the receiver. You can wish for pure text that you beautifully scale to 22pts, but this will break when someone sends you an email with HTML styling.

I'd love to see a second iteration of this that dives into the complexities of email threads, folders, etc. Even if some of this approach could make it into Mail, would be a great step forward.

Who knows, maybe it will happen if Mac OS ever gets the flat treatment.

I was thinking about this when I downloaded Heed a few weeks ago. I really like how the app looks, haven't used it since I jailbroke my phone though (it crashes on launch).

I suggested more/different type options to the guys at SquareOne Mail, maybe they will do the same?

Nobody reads long emails regardless. If you're lucky, they open them after scanning the subjectline.
