This episode is so on point, thanks for making it. Wrote a long comment and deleted it, but thanks. Meant a lot.
I'm glad it doesn't come off as an hour of whining, but I felt really good about it after editing it. Specifically some of the stuff Dan talked about.
Ooh, I didn't realize at least one of you guys were also on DN! My new favorite podcast, I've been listening since I discovered you guys here.
Pretty great, and inspiration for a podcast I want to start soon.
Oh, we're everywhere, Paul...
Thanks for the kind words!
You guys are correct in saying that everyone feels some sort of ineptitude when discovering kick-ass work someone else has posted on the 'Net. It's both incredibly dream-crushing and humbling. When I was younger (hah! I'll be 26 in 2 months), I thought I was the shit and quickly learned I wasn't.
I, like you guys, started to get serious about my own work recently and no longer care what everyone else is doing. Sure, I feel a pang of jealousy when I see my friends do something awesome and then get hired by great companies, but that makes me work harder.
Quite honestly, I'm feeling the need to work for myself and I hope to make the jump this year. I'm so focused now, especially after listening to this episode...I just need to get better. (:
