Personally, I think it was a huge risk by Ben. And I wouldn't recommend this for everyone, unless you're truly passionate about shipping something. But some risks pay off.
I like Hessian.
I think it was an interesting investment in time. I do personal projects when I get free time to fill my portfolio with things where I have total creative freedom. So if at the same time, I can potentially make money -- why not?
I'm happy for you Andrew, but I think there's something wrong here. How can a pre-made brand identity can be relevant and suitable to my product/place/startup ?
Oh man, I wish this were my work. It actually belongs to Ben Pierrat. http://pieratt.com/
This is exciting news. If the transition and implementation is successful this opens the door to a new chapter in identity design.
The big question maybe is this a one-off novelty event? Or is this idea have legs for the rest of us?
Maybe I'm missing something, but why is "plug 'n play" use of a stock brand a good thing? How is this different from just buying a premade logo from LogoMaid?
Well, he is asking $18,000, so I'm assuming that's a big difference.
So it's an expensive stock brand. Why are we applauding this?
It's great work, done from the designers own initiative, for which he stands to be paid 18 large. Why not applaud?
I totally think that there may be room for more designers to do this. This is an interesting concept. Some startups spend tons of time and money with agencies trying to nail down the perfect image. If you can find something your brand aligns with, I think paying X amount saves a lot of headache and time.
Call me ignorant, but what is Hessian? I've dropped out of Twitter altogether, so if it is known mainly because of Twittwit I'm not surprised that I don't know what it is.
Hessian is a prefab brand built and for sale by Ben Pieratt. http://hessian.tv/
So it's a solution in search of a problem?
This is so fucking exciting. Seriously. I mean, we've watched design rise in importance over the years and it's literally equally as valued as engineering these days. This could be a huge event.
It's kinda like … the first big Hirst sale?
wow. that is amazing.
Keep your fingers crossed, unless you're a hater.
Although I'm for this working out I can understand why some may be apprehensive.
Taurean, can I just compliment you really quickly on your avatar? :)
That actually made me pretty happy, I was positive no one could tell what it is.
Um, I want to compliment both of you. I am still brain dead about what to do with mine.
You would get a great laugh as to how many different ideas I burned through before giving up with this.
