Ask DN: How to make grid for site design on Sketch?

over 9 years ago from , User Interface Designer

It's all in the title, is there a way to make a grid (960gs-like grid) on Sketch? A plugin or a function that I might be missing?

Thanks DN

Okay, how about making something like guide guide, to make guides within the document for a specific area? Can this be achieved with sketch?

I don't know how GuideGuide works or if it has some additional features. But I think the grid settings on Sketch is complete? Even for object alignement there is a tool for that, you can find it first on the alignement options. (4 squares icons)

Or you think there is some features that might be missing here?

You can use a combination of the Grid Tool (4 squares) or use one of Sketch's brilliant features; with the rulers turned on, select an object. You will notice how it greys out an area in the rulers, simply double click over any of the edges of this greyed-area and Sketch will create a perfectly aligned guide. It's ace.

Go to "View -> Grid Settings.." Click the "Layout" tab/button on the bottom left. That will bring up a bunch of nice friendly options. Click "OK" and you're done.

This resource may be pretty handy for you too: http://dribbble.com/shots/1079908-960-sketch

Thank you! - And reading the comments on the Dribbble I discover that there is a way to do this on Sketch. For the ones that missed this functionality, you can find it here : View > Grid Settings - +G to turn grid on.

      Thanks again Thomas. :)

Edit : Saw you edited your comment too. :)
