It's hard to dribbble without the ball.

9 years ago from , Interactive Art Director

Heyo DN!

The post title is true in more way than one. I've seemed to found myself stuck without a Dribbble invite. After running into multiple friends/designers who had recently given away their last invite, I now turn to DN.

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any suggestions on getting an invite? As an avid DN follower, I thought I'd look to everyone here first!

This is exactly why I need an invite! So I can properly rebound work I get inspired by... otherwise, this happens.

I'm not sure this is exactly a "rebound." I understand a dribbble rebound to be creative collaboration to iterate new ideas. A rebound would never end up in your personal portfolio presented as a piece of original/unique work.

This should not be in your portfolio. Ever.EVER.

Even if I had an invite, I'd never give it to someone that did this.

Rebounding shots act like a personal exploration of someone else's concept, and in some cases can be used to help someone else expand their idea's through your eyes. Rebounded shots, ESPECIALLY when they are absolutely identical in execution, should NEVER be passed off as your own work in your personal portfolio. smh -__-

You didn't iterate on it, or improve the concept... that's the whole idea behind rebounds. You just took it.

You screwed up. It happens. But what you do afterwards is what people will pay attention to.

Thanks for a bit more of a constructive approach to this issue. As a new designer to many of these communities, its easy to cross the line without knowing I am.

Regardless, it happened, and I have since removed the item from my portfolio.

I do thank everyone for pointing this out. Fortunately this was just in an 'art while idle' piece of my portfolio, never used for any project or client. I'm very happy to have figured this out with a simple mess around piece than through a client project.

          Thanks everyone. Onward and upward.

That's not a rebound? You don't communicate anywhere that it was based on the dude's work.

"Properly" rebounding work you get inspired by outside of dribbble would mean you give credit to the original... similar to how a rebound works lol.

I'm in your same boat, but I hate having to work for an invite if that makes sense.

Sorry. I know this is begging, but any chance you got anymore for a relatively new developer / designer? I haven't much for visual projects in my portfolio yet, but am starting to look for a design partner to do individual projects with. My still WIP, bare portfolio is over here. Thanks for the time!

I'd love to get invited someday, but then again don't care enough to start begging. Catch 22.

I found out one of the guys at riothq.com had one going, so I bid him a keg of ale instead of begging. Worked!
