Ask DN: Will there be another stock iOS app or function that we'll start to see re-invented?

Every man and his avocado have released a minimalist weather app by now.

Is there another stock iOS app that we'll see get "re-invented" again and again to the point where we're not sure if they are being ironic? Is the trend shifting to something else?

My avocado and I have yet to debut a minimalist weather app but we're still working on a todo app :)

Mostly due to Drew Wilson, I think we are about to see an even larger influx of email apps than we already have.

I was going to say I'm waiting on a "flat" (OMG FLAT ZOMG) calculator app that relies on undiscoverable hidden gestures for everything. Then I remembered that already exists: http://lifehacker.com/5896576/rechner-is-a-gesture+based-calculator-for-ios-claims-to-be-200-more-efficient-than-the-default

So, no. It's all been done. Let's go home.

It's 2013 and we're still entering contact information manually. That's bound to change.

While I think it's difficult for there apps to be bestsellers, I believe it's inspiring and fun to use and try these apps out to see if they thought of any new creative way of interaction & design. Indie apps & games are the new trendsetters!

There might be apps already doing this but I would love to see some making a simplified iPod music player, possibly one that somehow pulls in Rdio or Spotify. I feel as core of a function as music is to the iDevices that the default Music is actually kind of annoying to use.

I'd love to see some new clock and alarm apps. There are a few out there but none seem to really out perform the stock iOS app. 'Start' is close but is still missing some things I'd like to see.
