It's an awesome concept. It's an experiment, so of course it'll be a tad bit buggy. One interesting tidbit to note: it doesn't seem to like beards. At all.
Great job and thanks for including the different "debug" options.
Let me note that I only submitted this here, but did NOT create it myself.
awesome idea, but most users will be terrified that your site is asking to use their webcam.
This is insane. The seed of this idea is great. Needs some smoothing over in the implementation though.
I feel like as an experiment this succeeds on many levels. Incredibly intriguing.
Practically, this could work if it detected your face before loading the page - it's rare that your proximity to the screen varies so much.
This is really, really cool.
It could actually be really interesting for applications in mobile; think of Newsstand apps that use your camera on launch to size the text.
Not only is this site tracking my face, but it seems to track my bad eyesight: the type is HUGE.
How many of us here already read hacker news? Just curious - I feel like it's probably a pretty large proportion, and I'm hoping DN doesn't become full of cross-posts...
But then again this can totally be argued against in many ways. Just figured I'd open up the discussion
On a second examination, it looks like it was actually posted here first!
I posted it both here and on HN, and posted it here first of course ;)
Not everyone reads hacker news either :P
