When working on the design of a project, how do you approach the WRITING?

A long time ago, when I had just crossed over from the print world, I was an advocate for Lorem Ipsum designs. "Keep the client focused on THE DESIGN." As I grew my skills, I learned that you can't separate the content from the design. (This was the early 00s.)

So as someone who had a background in cartooning, I decided that it was time to up my writing game. I signed up for a seminar in composition class at the University of Pittsburgh and got the toughest teacher there. Her first round of critique set a high bar, upsetting everyone in the class except me, and I was smiling. By the end of the class, I had a better handle on writing. Far from being an expert but now I felt empowered to make copywriting suggestions in the designs.

I mention all this because I came across a good site/twitter account that has bite-sized suggestions for improving copy and I thought this would be a boon for everyone here.
