$53,000 for top spec. I'll have 2.
I've heard you can design the future on it. And when you use PhotoShop your edits come to life.
Haha... I'll have 2 as well.
$84,778.00 AUD, but I'll bet it can't run Crysis
everyone's calling out the max price, but the base price is unjustifiable. purely a status symbol purchase.
It may not be a good buy for you, but that doesn't mean it's not a good buy for anyone. Certainly Apple is aware that this is a very niche product, and that even for most "pros" (e.g. the designers visiting this site) an iMac or iMac Pro is probably a better solution and value.
But no need to assume that means it's not a great purchase for some people.
Even if you had an unlimited budget this thing is a terrible purchase, the price hikes per performance are ridiculous compared to what you can get in the rest of the workstation sector and limiting you to AMD graphics cards seriously limits the processing potential, almost all GPGPU apps and engines run off CUDA.
It almost feels like this has been designed spitefully, they've made something so weirdly overpriced and niche that it's a guaranteed flop and they can finally justify killing the whole line. There are only so many editors working on Marvel movies in the world... and most would probably prefer something that can be upgraded every few months.
I think that the higher specced versions leave the personal computer space and enter into the server space. $50k+ for a high CPU and high GPU compute server node isn't out of the question. I think that the XDR display is the most offensively priced.
