What do you think of incorporating Disqus or FB comments?
I won't support comments at first. But after I add HTML customization capabilities you'll be able to integrate them yourself.
Maybe later, if it has any users and there's enough interest, I might develop a custom, integrated solution.
sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who hates writing in markup.
You mean markdown?
love it... thinking about this the other day. why don't we have a stupid simple blogging platform that allows you to customize simple things (domain, colors, etc) but makes it super easy to start writing. thx for making this. signed up just now
Exactly, thank you!
Reminds me of this a bit: https://svbtle.com/
Totally, that could count as an early inspiration. Sadly, it hasn't been getting too much care and seems to be stuck in time by now.
Excited to see what you make!
What I would love to see is integration of a image hosting provider like UploadCare? Why? Because such platforms allow resizing images/cropping on the fly, meaning no more need to resize images on the server (which Wordpress does). Additionally, it would be easier to change hosts. Obviously, this comes with a cost (UploadCare is not free), but a small price to pay for easy of use. Uploadcare also comes with a handy upload tool.
+1 for customization options (if you're taking opinions at this early stage). A couple months ago I decided to start a travelog and I wanted to focus on my writing and telling stories about my travels, but I ended up wasting so much time just trying to find a simple blogging platform that I can host on my own domain and gives me all the customization options I need. I didn't find anything I liked so I decided to build my own custom pages in the end.
I'd love to test your platform when it's ready. Just please let me customize the HTML & CSS...
Thank you, of course, that's valuable feedback! And sure, HTML and CSS customization is one of the things I want. It won't be there at a launch but I hope shortly after.
I love seeing new concepts evolve in the blogging space. Another good alternative you might be interested in is https://blot.im/ (uses Dropbox as a blog)
Thanks! I've seen that one, I like the idea. Doesn't seem very inviting for non-tech-savvy people, though.
I think that you should focus on SEO aspect like load-time, built amp support etc. Many WordPress users have a problem with the above things.
It will be simple simple and lightweight so there won't even be a need for AMP support.
Launched! You can now try it out at bloggi.co.
Good job Hernán, will keep an eye on the next steps. Also nice blog post you made about quitting your job. Wish you a successful journey.
Haha that's a great post. Thank you!
