    Google Fonts is the IKEA of typography. Looks good on the surface, falls apart pretty quickly, and everyone goes to it.

      The analogy was good until you said it falls apart? How do you mean? The serif start dropping off of letters?

        No, they just become unreadable at weird sizes, have legibility issues, don't scale well, have kerning issues, aren't hinted properly, have weird anti-aliasing issues, no ligatures etc...
