    Let's just think about this for a second: yes, it's a lot cheaper than CS, but it's still something a lot of us have already paid for. Why should people coming in later pay, ultimately, less than the rest of us for the same set of features? Seems completely irrational to me.

    Paid update? Fine, no problem. Pay more than you originally paid for the original? Seems pretty cheeky to me.

      Well to be pedantic you've already paid for Sketch 2, not Sketch 3. If none of the new features appeal to you then there's nothing forcing you to upgrade.

      $50 to a professional for a tool that you regularly use isn't all that much really. A chef would buy a knife for that.

        I meant I've already paid for the majority of the software, which is largely going to be the same thing. My point is that a discount for existing users, who've supported them earlier on, would be nice.

        I can see I'm out-opined here, anyway, so there's not much we can achieve by arguing this out :) They've made their choice, I'm sure they have their reasons for charging this much across the board.

        I'm gonna give the new feature list a read and maybe try the free trial, then I'll decide whether to buy the new version.

        Anyway, I totally agree with you about the price. I think it's a reasonable, and quite fair price, for a professional software tool, I just don't know for sure yet if I fancy paying it twice for a few new features. In fact, I love the fact that they charge at all, but don't charge the absolutely insane prices that Adobe charge.

      What you say here perfectly describes a subscription software license, like CC too. Imagine Sketch as running on a subscription model as well. Sketch's bills just come every 1.5 years instead of every month.

      Also, who here paid for a newer model iPhone/android when their 2-year contract is up? Buying the iPhone 1 doesn't entitle you to free phone updates forever...

      Metaphors aside, devs gotta eat. I'm happy to pay, and see my payment as a small bit of insurance that Bohemian Coding will be around long enough to make Sketch 4. :)
