      X is a variable in this case. LatinOs/LatinAs (he or she) X = both Not sure if is the right answer but I always assumed this when people use x like this. :)

        I see. I don't know how well known the x thing is so it could help if they highlight it (so stylise the name to make the x stand out) or explain it somewhere. Otherwise it sounds like an edgy startup name.

        I just want to point out that it's all, not both. The reason to use "latinx" rather than earlier terms such as "latin@" is that "latinx" acknowledges that people may not identify as male or female — truly gender-neutral, as Pablo says :)
