It just follow these colorful design trend which is currently running with these self glow shadows. Or these bright color gradients. I thought they where already considered "old".
Anyway, it will be over in 1 or 2 years and then they have to do it all over again. They should go the way like dropbox and evolve their design instead of trying to be trendy or just "cool" looking.
I agree on the cheap approach of the Firefox brand, but Dropbox has a totally different one, it is mature bold and it is an entire branding system. This (firefox brand) is a totally different monster.
