    Honest question, criticism.

    How was this design system conceptualized?

    This feels more like a marketing piece, open design style guide (pattern library) using existing bits that are retroactively stuffed into the concept of a design system.

    Whereas design systems like say Shopify’s Polaris, it seems like behind Shopify’s approach is a real intention, a deliberate visual language at the macro and micro level, and the design system has been holistically conceptualized, executed and integrated into a living product.

    I’m not sure I understand what the rationales are behind Nacho because the documentation on the actual principles, philosophy, and approach are shallow and incoherent.

    At least to me. Help me out, maybe I'm missing something?

    It feels like a lot of companies are rushing out there to throw out a “Design System” without really embracing and executing on what that means and why.

    As a design style guide, pattern library this seems well done given the legacy of bits and pieces being dealt with.

    As a design system, I don’t see it.

      It's possible this is the case, but also that it's a stepping stone toward consolidating everything in order to make future changes easier.
