What's the designer-to-engineer ratio where you work?

If you're in an Agile Scrum environment, person:person ratio doesn't tell you much. What's more useful is role:scrum. For example, 1 product designer : 2 scrum teams or 1 researcher : 4 scrum teams.

We are a scrum shop, and I don't disagree. However, I think there is inherent value around discussion points when you the abstract "teams" from the convo and focus on, "our company has a 1:50 design to eng ratio", in understanding the corporate dynamic of how fast a product can improve.

While I don't think there is an exclusive answer around a golden ratio here, it is simple to correlate many things with just this number.
