    i couldn't disagree more. the power of facebook is its passive aggregation. most people don't want to use 4-5 different apps and scour the internet to actively seek out content.

      Isn't that what we said about Craigslist, though? And then StubHub and Airbnb happened...

        craigslist is a special case because they notoriously under-invest in themselves and have made no effort to innovate and evolve; basically pocketing all profits. there have been very few substantial changes to the site since launch, which has lead to its steady decline.

        facebook, on the other hand, has proven to be very much aware and cautious of the competition. they're also the only company in the article that's turning a profit.
