      You're welcome.

How are you planning on handling the visa situation btw? I'm just curious :)

As luck would have it, I've been reading up on this recently!

When most people talk about "sponsorship" they're referring to the H-1B visa (person in specialty occupation). There is a cap of 65,000 H-1B visas a year for those with bachelor's/honours degrees, with a further 20,000 places for those with master degrees and above.

The US Immigration Services start accepting applications on April 1st, and I'm told they hit the cap fairly quickly. If you're lucky enough to secure a visa then you can start the following October.

So were you to get sponsored now, the earliest you could start on an H-1B visa would be October 2017.

The best alternatives to the H-B are the L visa (intercompany transferee), for which you need to have worked at the same company for 12 months prior to sponsorship, or the O-1A visa (persons of extraordinary ability or merit). The O-1A visa seems to be the best deal, but unless you've won a Nobel Prize recently you have to hit at least 3 out of 8 of the criteria before you'll even be considered: things like being award winning; featured in national or industry news (presumably about your career); having made major scientific, scholarly or business-related contributions to your field, etc. etc.

If anyone knows a better way (or has had any experience of the above) I'd love to know!
