Related to this system we created, we have seen it to increase collaboration. Designers, engineers and product people have a common language they. Also we have seen that designers are more eager to share and adopt solutions from other designers than before. I think it has shifted our thinking more towards boiling a system and experience together and away from individual projects.

I always think that physical proximity helps too. Also giving opportunities to people learn from each other. Ask engineers to to design meetings. Encourage designers to learn about engineering. More we can emphasize and learn each others viewpoints the more I think we can work together and come up great solutions.
