Would your mom care about most of these critiques?

Almost certainly! These critiques are almost all related to usability as opposed to aesthetics. Poor information hierarchy, poor alignment, visual inconsistency, low contrast: this is stuff that affects those who are technically illiterate the most (providing we're using "your mom" to stand in for "somebody without much computer knowledge").

This is hands down the suggestion that throw off most discussions with clients, designers, anyone. Please quit using your mom as your default persona for someone that doesn't understand technology — she's intelligent, receptive and probably a great woman.

And like the other poster mentioned, these effect her more than you might think. This is beyond aesthetics.

You're right. My mom is an intelligent, receptive and probably a great woman.

I used the word "most" because some of the critiques on this website are very valid. Others are not.

It's great to create a list of these details, but when you start grouping "Move this pixel here" with "This UI element is used here without any consideration of how it's there", the list becomes very noisy and whiny.
