What do you mean?
I think he means usually people combine all types of graphic design jobs, such as user interface designers, print designers, etc, as one category. It's hard to hear the words graphic designer because graphic design could mean many things this day in age.
But I disagree. If you are a designer that has something to do with branding, print, or for screens, you're pretty much a graphic designer.
You know, logos and stuff.
I literally just mean that the sounds of the words themselves is grating. But also probably it's just all the negative connotations they carry - I mean just listen to the way they say it. And probably personal memories as well.
Do you think "Graphic Designer" is a dirty word?
Its a naughty word.
Agreed, that did hurt. But even more painful was "letterhead, pamphlets" etc etc.
Yeah, clients may actually know what you are accountable for if you use words they know.
Without the titles, we're all just a bunch of "graphic designers" and "programmers" to the rest of the world.
Are you designing graphical user interfaces?

Honestly the worst part was just hearing the words "graphic designer" out loud. Thank god for titles like "UI Designer", "visual designer", etc
