Great point about the cross-platform inconsistency of icons.
Hi Matias,
I am currently studying mediadesign. in addition to my studies, I am always eager to learn more about design. I always try to approach design in a broad way. So, I am learning about animation, type design, a bit of programming and I just keep up to date with the latest design techniques. I have also been focussing on learning about the principle’s of design. Which gives me a deeper understanding on how design affects our surroundings.
Do you have any advice for me, and other students that are starting out in this industry?
Here are a couple that I listen:
I started when I was about 11 years old.
I have a Nikon D3200. It's a great dslr, especially considering it's price. At the moment I only own the standard 18-55mm and 55-200mm Nikkor lenses.
All the photos on my blog are taken with my D3200 http://blog.yakim.nl .
Music I listen to while designing - Tycho - Neon Indian - The Postal Service - RAC - Daft Punk - Emancipator - Little People - Lemaitre - Parachutes - Ludovico Einaudi - YACHT - Phantogram
I also listen to some podcasts - 99% Invisible - The Truth - Hello Internet - Accidental Tech Podcast - Iterate - Debug - On The Grid - Song Exploder - We Have Concerns - This is Only a Test
I hope that they will add this feature too. I also use that a lot in Illustrator and miss it in Sketch every time I try to align something.
I agree that a funnel is not a clear icon the represent filter. At the moment I can’t come up with a better alternative. Another word for filter could be refine. Though, that would be even more confusing.
If the icon isn’t clear enough, why not use a text label?
