I agree with a lot of Justin's sentiments, but the failure to put emphasis on context will always keep dribbble from being a source of design inspiration for me. The context of design is what gives it meaning and makes it powerful, most of dribbble is just eye candy - which is fine, that's just not what design is to me.
No one is commenting for fear of being added to some government list somewhere.
Thanks for that, marketing department.
If we're measuring the success of these based on legibility, the original signs are better.

Strange that it talks about everything except the content of your portfolio.
I always encourage people to show a range of work - it shows that you're capable of addressing multiple issues in a variety of ways, rather than settling on a similar solution for every project.
I've found that design communities differ greatly from city to city. Minneapolis fits the description of "giving, open, and humble". San Francisco...well, MPLS is great.

Attributing this to "flat design" is nonsense. I said on twitter that we were trying to do this back in 2011, and another designer said that HE tried to get it done in 2007. We had a lot of fights trying to get this done, so I'm glad to see them finally ditch those extraneous elements.
