If cost effective really is your goal:
I use a Thinkpad x220 with an IPS panel, you can find them for $200 - $300 on eBay and there's a ton of parts around. Just throw in an SSD and it's a hell of a machine. I think they're seen as more of an IT guy machine, but I have a thing for customizing Windows the way I want it to look. Affinity Designer and Photoshop will run really well on it, but you'll need to upgrade to 16gb of ram if you want Illustrator to be buttery smooth.
I also recommend finding a 9 cell stick out battery to go with it. Combined with the trackpoint, you can carry it around the office and make a standing desk out of anything.
Those marquees are brilliant, I had to do a double take when I realized that each line only had one speaker in it.
One of the main reasons I switched to Mac in the first place was that type and colour display was so wonderful by default.
This is the biggest reason I design in Windows, interestingly enough. I have to cover all bases or else I might as well be throwing sand in people's eyes.

Spoiler alert! It's their in house doo-hickey with a dumb name, you can see it here: https://github.com/vigetlabs/colonel-kurtz
You know how you can copy an image, and then go into Facebook messenger and paste the image directly into the chat field, automatically uploading it? I would kill for that.
I have a Webflow shirt that I love wearing and I'm amused at the Wolfdew reference in the second video :)
I love all of the updates you came out with today! Any word on how much longer until Webflow Interactions 2.0 come out?
