THAT SCROLLBAR! Woohoo!
Also: Not so Woohoo at all on Firefox.
Man, I really like the design treatment, BUT, it’s really hard for my eye to navigate. For example the monthly mixup section looks pretty, but its a little too mixed up?
Apart from the weirdly omnipresent ads I really like it. Not the most readable layout ever, but has a ton of character.
(But seriously I counted 10 different ads on the homepage, from banner ads to text links to sponsors to job boards… I get that you have to pay your bills, but geez…)
Hah! I was thinking the same.
What's up with the huge custom scrollbar? Seems so tacky and oddly large.
I think it has character and is hysterical. It also goes with the central point of the website: it represents a neat css trick that might not be well known.
I wouldn't call it 'hysterical' myself, but in saying that I haven't dropped any acid today
you don't have to wear the "troll" hat
As said a thousand times already, DAT SCROLLBAR THOUGH...
I kind of like it but as with pretty much every css-tricks redesign I feel there's just something I can't put my finger on that doesn't sit right for me personally.
The homepage feels a lot like the updated Smashing Mag which I find is quite hard to browse and get a feel for what's available because there's so little actually being displayed at any one time on my screen and there's an over-emphasis on avatars and author detail.
Still, the one thing I can never fail to fault is the effort, thought and outstanding content the team put out so consistently and for that I tip my hat and say thanks again for being such a wonderful resource.
Pluralsight 2.0?
CSS tricks site with broken css (horizontal scrolling in Safari) on the homepage...
Have you seen that spinning csstricks logo in the header, when you fastly scroll back?
The big white headlines and neon colors really make it very hard to read the actual text. Just try read a few lines and feel your eyebrows tensing up. It’s an actual physical relief to browse away to another site after it, unfortunately.
Also, what ads? Oh…
The sorting dropdown is pretty cheeky. Great little touch. screenshot imgur link
I really like the design of the homepage. Very fun twirl of the logo on scroll. So the homepage is white on black but the core code tutorials are black on white?
