If its like Google, I only expect a logo and search box. nothing else.
So I closed the tab almost immediately as I could not search.
Agree, I clicked on the picture thinking it was an actual search bar ^
Just a heads up, a lot of the text on this page is inaccessible. The yellow green headline on the blue background is below minimum contrast. Same for all white text on that blue color.

I also fell for the trap of trying to click on the search bar that was just an image. If you're going to announce on DN it may as well have some functionality day-of.
Blocked by Sophos Internet Security. You might want to look into that.
