    It's a cool idea but apart from the gif it is visually uninspiring. For an emotional app, you've used the least emotional typeface possible. Maybe you could try and reflect the emotions in every aspect of the design, not just the gif. Currently it looks very sterile and kind of the opposite of emotional .

      Thanks Todd. It's a great point. I explored this a lot in earlier designs, but the GIFs demanded so much attention that I started pairing everything way back. Because it's an app that I hope people will use frequently, I wanted it to feel more neutral and "safe" as opposed to something more novel that might get stale quickly.
