Jeff (@ugmonk) here. Happy to answer any questions about Gather :)
Thanks for post!
Great product Jeff, just the thing I need :) Insta backed ! One question and I know to far in future, but do you think about other modules for Gather in future?
Thanks Maciej! Yes, I already have some other ideas for expansions and new modules. Those will come after the Kickstarter phase, but the possibilities are endless :)
Out of 100, how likely is it that you'll fulfil all orders? I backed a similar (non-modular) organiser that never delivered, 2+ years on. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deskpal/deskpal?ref=user_menu
100%. I've been designing and shipping products for 8 years so I'm no stranger to that amount of work this takes. We've shipped tens of thousands of product to over 65 countries and know this is a giant task. You can read more about my story here: http://ugmonk.com/about
Thanks for this. Most people I know who have backed a Kickstarter project have had it fail and never gone back. I want to learn to love again!
Yeah, it's unfortunate that many people have been burned by other Kickstarters and ruined people's expectations. We will not be one of those :)
Beautiful and well thought out! My only criticism is that my desk disorganization isn't a $150 problem (though I'm sure that's just me). I hope down the line a cheaper version could be produced with less expensive materials, if this were in the $50-75 range I'd be sold!
Nonetheless, great job Jeff!
Thanks Jake. No doubt, there are cheaper options out there. I wanted to create a premium product that feels in line with the quality of my Apple products. But maybe down the road we can offer a less expensive version. Thanks for the feedback!
I completely understand -- your design considerations are definitely worth the premium
If it wasn't nearly half the price of the product itself to ship it to Australia, I'd happily pledge for this!
Yeah I wish international shipping was cheaper but these are quite heavy and there's no cheap way to ship. Maybe we'll have a retailer in Australia that carries Gather someday :)
Very nice looking. So fresh and clean. But I am having trouble understanding why this is on Kickstarter. There are a million alternatives to this, some cheap and ugly, some expensive and elegant, and some looks great at a reasonable price. This is hardly innovating and I can't see the point in kickstarting. I see a lot of people pledged already, but it's a hard pass for me.
