Is there a plain-English explanation of what this is for dum-dums like me? That page is so heavy on jargon.
Exactly. This description is far from useful: "Status is a browser, messenger, and gateway to a decentralised world."
Basically, it comes down to two terms: blockchain and decentralized apps. Blockchain databases are a new way to store data. Whenever there is a change in the data a record is stored, with the ability to easily go into previous records. This makes it impossible for an entity to alter data. Decentralized apps (dapps) use this technology to create a new type of open source application that is not run by a single entity. Decisions on the dapp must be made by majority group consensus, you need a cryptographic token to access it and tokens are generated and distributed based on contributions to the dapp. Bitcoin is actually an example of a dapp. It was the first to use blockchain technology as well. Ethereum is the new cryptocurrency on the market, with a stronger focus on dapp development. Status is basically a mobile browser for dapps and ethereum.
It's so hard for me to trust anywhere with my ethereum, though.
I like the design, but the copy is very confusing. I have a vague idea of what you are talking about but I'm not even sure if it's legit or not.
Awesome ❤️
thanks!
Love this ! I've been a fan of Ethereum but find that they always have a marketing problem, sites like this make it very accessible to normal users
Can't quite tell what the product is about, a browser based on Ethereum, right?
Design is very slick if its focusing on consumers but this reads like a dev product.
