Love the sharpness of the site, very well done. If I had a critique it would be that the overwhelming amount of intense red is really overwhelming when viewing on the web. Found myself squinting a lot, like I was looking at the sun. I'm on a 5k iMac.

At Yummygum we're big workout fanatics and it felt like there wasn’t a beautiful and good workout app available. That’s why we decided to create one. For about a year we’ve worked on Ignite, and we’re super happy and excited about its availability in the App Store. The coolest thing about this project is that everyone who’s been on the Yummygum team in the past year (either employee or intern) has worked on this. A true team effort we’re extremely proud of.

If you guys have any suggestions on how to make it better, we'd love to know!

I have no idea how to start a work out … heres my flow:

    • I hit the button that says ‘select workout’…

    • I select one from ‘All workouts’ .. lets say beginner gains ..

    • It gives me a little tick and i think ‘sweet lets hit Create’

    heres where i get confused

    • It now asks me to name the workout .. im wondering why, i just selected a workout called beginner gains .. it has a name … ill type in some crap just to get going .. i keysmash

    • smash some junk in the title and the description …

    • … the done button is still greyed out ..

    • I see the ‘Add Exercise’ button is active .. lets try that

    • Now i have to select various exercises .. ok umm ab crunch ..

    • Now i hit create

    • now i have to name it .. but it has a name?! …keysmash again

    • Cant hit done? whaaaaattt whyyyy

At this point i rage quit and delete the app because i cant start a work out …

    pleaseee tellll meeee

Haha thanks for the elaborate post Chris!

It might be too subtle, but as soon as you "tick" a workout on the left hand side, a button slides up from the bottom that says "Add Workouts". If you tap that, it'll appear on your Start screen. Let me know if that works ⚡️

ohhhh thats a button .. i thought that was just visual feedback basically saying "yep me added the work out" .. like a toast alert ... it also didn't fall into my expected pattern of 'top right button = progress towards my goal' ..

and now im wondering what that create button does and how to make it active.

        thanks anyway.

Reality check, you have to fix the UX. It's horrible. The pain of even setting up workouts it's just really hard to grasp. User has to put in so much effort just to get started - and this is were you will loose them. It looks promising though...

The app looks great but running on an iPhone 6s some of the animations seem a bit sluggish.

On a different note, you guys must be beasts if you are shoulder pressing 65kg ;)

Thanks for the feedback Luke, we've seen some other people experiencing some sluggish FPS, we're looking into it. Haha, BEAST MODE!

    The Pros
    • UI is clean, although personally the red is a bit much, but I get it.
    • Relatively well performing on iPhone6 Plus
    Cons
    • The UX. It took me a little while to figure out how to actually start a workout. I see the desired user flow now that I have figured it out, but as a first time user it was frustrating and confusing.
    • The red is too intense for every view.

If only I had an iPhone I would try it.

Does Ignite have built in programs for the most popular routines? (E.g. Greyskull, SL5x5, Starting Strength, PPL, etc.)

Edit: Just a suggestion. I personally like having a track to go down, that increments my weights for me from workout to workout. The SL5x5 app does this pretty well, but obviously only has the 5x5 routine built in.
