Starred Stories

Designer News receives hundreds of stories per day, and your upvotes dictate the feed to showcase what’s most relevant/interesting. However, in a never ending news cycle sometimes it’s hard to keep up.

To go alongside our recent updates to Search, today we’re announcing Starred Stories.

Stars are an easy way to save any story you find interesting for later - simply mouse over any story in the feed and hit the star icon to save it for later. Hit it again to remove it. They're available as an additional feed, and they're private, so build your own collection as you see fit.

Will there be an API endpoint for it? We'll be happy to forward pandamarks to DN stars with the upcoming DN integration.

Nice! Will definately use this as a bookmarking tool. However, it should be an option to star within the story/comments. How will I know that I wanna star a story before I even visit the link/discussion?

  Yep, this should definitely be inside the story too, because a lot of times I'd like to star an interesting discussion.

I see the star when I'm viewing the feed, but what if I want to star a post I am currently looking at? I don't see an option for that

  I noticed this too. I can imagine this being frustrating on occasion if I get used to using this feature.

nice. Even though I suggested it in the 'starred' conversation from earlier, I just realized there's no way to see from your profile or anywhere what posts you've upvoted (which is what I suggested in lieu of starring). I wanna know what I liked on here!

hijacking for question: why does my home page constantly have "1 reply" in the nav bar? (no, there are no new replies.)

  I believe this happens when a reply/parent thread are deleted or something along those lines. Certainly a known bug, anyway.

  Hey Cihad! - if you're logged in on mobile, you should see the stars shown by default next to every story. If not, send us an email re: browser/device and we can look into it.

    Hi Maxwell! Im on and iPad Pro and Safari, don't see the stars except if I press and hold on a story/highlight text.
