It feels uncomfortable to read this article right up against the edge of the screen. The overall presentation of this article is, frankly, shit.
Irony.
This article is also just hideously poorly researched (if it is at all). The rant about EU cookie warnings being "dumb" misses the point. The law dictates websites disclose it, and he's cherry-picked a website which is basically government-funded so of course it'll have a big message about it. It's one click to hide it. What an idiot.
It's very easy to be very negative about something, it takes actual skill to find some constructive remarks to say. I guarantee there are reasons why all of these decisions have been made, they may not be reasons we consider good, but there are reasons. This is as bad as (or worse than) the low-effort Medium articles that get submitted here.

Oh the irony. All I get is a DNSPROBEFINISHED_NXDOMAIN
Jake Lazaroff, over 7 years ago Why did my session end? Another possible reason is that the user clicked the most fundamental browser navigation item in existence and you guys chucked a wobbly over it.
Or, y'know, the site doesn't implement sessions that don't expire because they're an easily-avoidable security risk.

no ads or paywalls or mobile apps? how does the author expect sites to make money?
