The people seem like canadiens from south park
It feels like someone near the top at Google realized they couldn't "out-design" Apple in the public's perception—so instead, they're making their aesthetic as playful and warm as they can, subtly exposing Apple as extremely cold and robotic. Works for me.
Couldn't out design Apple...? What? Apple is far from the be all end all of good design anymore. They are not the same company they were 3-4 years ago. The majority of what they do now is adopt trends versus innovate.
I just mean in the general public's perception. When you ask a non-designer what good design is, they think of their iPhone.
Ah, yeah. We are on the same page.
At the same time, this makes me picture Android-based devices as products for children and teenagers.
That's basically how I pictured it before, except also for people with terrible taste.
exactly, not everyone likes a childish, infantilising design.
completely lacks elegance and style.
I love how well Material was designed. It really brings flat design to life. I wish that screen slider was a bit better performing though. I noticed a lot of lag.
The design of the site was great overall!
I'm generally a pretty big fan of Google's design, but this site seems to clash a bit. Not a whole lot of cohesive color, and the type doesn't seem to match the casual style of the illustrations. I like the personality, but it doesn't sell me on the brand like the Nexus site does.
I think the little Android carrying over the marshmallow to add to the pile is the best part.
