I'm planning on writing my first Medium post about "Beautiful Font Combinations". I thought the Designer News community could help me select the best ones to showcase in the post. Thanks guys!
My favourite font combinations are (Heading & Body):
Avenir Next & Baskerville
Brandon Grotesque & Adobe Caslon
Chronicle Display & Whitney
Tisa & Proxima Nova
Helvetica for headers, Arial for body copy.
Rather than simply talk about nice combinations you could explore why certain fonts work together and how to find good combinations. This would then arm readers with the knowledge of how to create their own combinations for any project. For example, you could give advice like ‘when matching serif and sans-serif fonts look for two fonts with similar x-heights’.

I love Brandon Grotesque for titles and Adobe Garamond for body! They used to have it on Exposure, but nowadays they changed the Brandon with a Europe, which is nice to!

That's a pretty shitty response considering he wants them for a blog post, not a project.
Woah..hold up. Since designers might use this info for their own projects, my point is maybe he should frame the post around what goals as a designer are you trying to achieve? What is the concept or vibe are you going for? Then based on these goals have a list of recommends. This way there is context and reasoning behind it.
Yeah that is 100% correct. The font combinations do depend on projects and the visual style you're aiming for. For example, helvetica neue and comic sans may look nice together but they wouldn't work on a wedding invitation.
I just want to create a list of fonts that just work together perfectly. It will primarily be used as a reference/index for myself to refer back to for future projects. I also want to explore how to pair fronts and why those fonts work together so darn well.
