It's been 4 years since I lived in Italy. Brought back some awesome memories. Thanks!
Nice photoset!
Some feedback: it seems like most photos are 1mb? I have a 200mbps connection and it was still slow to load. I'd suggest having your scroll-based lazy loader to trigger earlier (say like 800px before I've scrolled to it) and post smaller, slightly compressed images (i use JPEG Mini and it adaptively compresses depending on the complexity of the image and works well in most cases). Your images are larger than even retina 2x: 2592px displayed at 915px wide. Even as a retina Mac user, I don't like to code my photographs to display at retina unless they can be fast.
Really nice work. Love it.
I've been contemplating something similar here in Saigon as rapid development is knocking down all of these beautiful old French buildings.
Perhaps this is the inspiration for me to actually get off my butt and do it.
Cheers!
I always find the (old) architectural ornaments of Europe to be beautiful.
The doors of Duomo in Milan are incredible, you should see them! I didn't pay attention to this until now, but from what I can remember from my trip in Italy, I can point out the originality of Italians regarding this aspect.
