Really great of them to offer it as free upgrade.

Why would anyone on Earth use twitter? Now that's not just me being obnoxious, it's a real questions that bothers me every once in a while. What are most common use cases for the twitter?

Same reason you use Designer News: keep up to date, find interesting content, meet people in your industry or area. It's really what you make of it.

I felt the same way 2 years ago but then I realized it wasnt about followers but about getting to know people and meeting people youd never have a chance to meet.

I am writing a post about what I've learned over those 2 years but here is what its provided me:

      • Conversations with titans of the field
      • Connecting with people you’d never be able to meet
      • Networking
      • Having your assumptions challenged
      • Increasing the diversity of your influences
      • Book deals!
      • Bigger platform to share your thoughts
      • Fun!
      • Great way for a solo designer to get feedback, interaction, skill sharpening
      • Friendships
      • Partnerships
      • Staying up to date with where your field is going
      • Community
      • Influence
      • Resume points
      • Job opportunities

As much as I like and appreciate the visual uplift, Tweetbot for Mac is still lightyears behind Tweetdeck in terms of features and flexibility.

Anyone with two or more Twitter accounts will be especially aware of this.

You can have multiple accounts in Tweetbot?

Sure you can. But you can only work with one at a time and you have to switch between them constantly.

Whereas with Tweetdeck, I'm able to have both of my accounts' respective timelines (and lists, mentions, etc.) open at the same time which makes it so much easier to work with.

Discounted price? This was a no-brainer. AppShopper alert popped up on my phone, got up, opened MacBook, bought.

I am liking it a lot but I have one gripe that I was wondering if theres a different setting for:

I want to see all my favorites and RT and replies coming in one place.

I cant see, to figure out how to do that.

As far as I'm aware, the Twitter API doesn't offer functionality to fetch retweets and recent favourites.

Can some point me to the the best power-user features for Tweetbot? I just bought it, but I need some tips and tricks.

Muting is my favourite feature. You can choose to mute by user, hashtag, client they post from (so you can block Facebook reposts for example) and for whatever time frame you choose it from. I like to use this to mute hashtags for a show I haven't seen yet (I'll mute #gameofthrones until I have seen it).

If you scroll down to Keyboard Shortcuts section here, you'll be able to learn a few more interesting features. They are still the same in Tweetbot 2. http://www.macstories.net/news/tweetbot-for-mac-review/

It's still 1.6.2 for me in the app store. Looks like it hasn't updated yet. Where do you see that it is at 2.0?
