That new default theme is awesome.
I'm a little surprised that DN are heaping praise on Twenty Fifteen. My first reaction was that it looked extremely bland.
I think it's a great starter theme for users willing to put time and effort into tweaking it, but I wonder how appealing it will be to non-technical, non-designery bloggers?
(To be fair though, I haven't played with it yet to see how easy it is to customise through the admin settings alone. It's probably very easy to change the look and feel of everything.)
Is there a live default theme example rather than just a screenshot?
Seems like Wordpress is trying to steal Ghost's thunder.
Have Ghost honesly ever become a relevant blogging platform itself?
That is a poor article really. Just because they focused on the writing experience and released a new blogging focused minimal theme, it's stealing Ghost it's thunder.. come on.. also he says
"Ghost was born out of the frustrations of an former Wordpress employee who wanted to revitalize blogging by introducing simplicity into a platform. "
John was never an “WordPress employee”. He contributed to WordPress as a volunteer and was also never hired/paid/employed by AutoMattic.
Sorry but if you want to write an article like that at least know your subjects.
Looks awesome! This is the first default wordpress theme, I wouldn't mind actually using.
Thanks for the news
