A little over-animated, don't you think?
I dunno if I agree. The only part that feels over-animated is the way transitions between sections happen in weird quadrants, but the rest of the animations seem lovely to me.
Looks great.
I don't really like these kinds of website. But thats just a opinion.

The first thing I did was press my spacebar and … nothing happened. :(
Finally I don’t feel alone on this: the first thing I do on websites is flick my finger on the magic mouse to scroll – and it always feels like bumping hard in a wall if the website doesn’t (obviously) scroll. Ruins most otherwise beautiful sites for me (same goes for scrolljacking).
