I like the site because it solves the biggest issue I have with most sites: Location of information. I click "Plan Your Visit" and I have the address, hours, and a link for tickets. Perfect.
I don't like the choice of fonts, they don't seem suiting at all.
The fonts follow the branding... very well suited considering. Gotham Rounded says, "friendly and accessible" a good choice for a museum.

Fair enough, I still don't find it suitable (in lack of a better word), no matter what Gotham Rounded says about itself. I guess I dislike the branding then. Just my personal opinion!
Ah thanks for finding that! I was sure there must have been some restraints like that to use Gotham Rounded the way they did.
Too bad they haven't selected a secondary typeface for their identity. it might have aligned better with the story they are telling on the website. It looks great on printed material though.
I like how they tell the story of Van Gogh's journey.
Typography isn’t as poppin as I expected. :(
Hi Arden, nice to see you here =) Well made website. Did you also work on that?
I just don't get why they use Gotham Rounded and I think they could have taken the typography a bit further, maybe add a few more grid elements to spice things up.
Hi David! Cheers, no I didn't work on this. I was invited to a small opening yesterday, with a private tour through the museum after closing time which was very nice. I also had some time to chat with the van Gogh Museum website project leader and the guys from Q42 about this project.
From what I gathered, they'll continue to build on this site and from next year they'll release new stories every two months which coincide with the themes of the tours through the museum.
I wasn't bothered by the rounded font, but now you say so I do agree that some sharper typography would pop a bit more.
Made by http://www.fabrique.nl... Same as http://www.rijksmuseum.nl...
Fabrique and Q42: http://q42.nl/ and indeed, both companies also worked on Rijksmuseum
