The 'things we make' sections looks quite nice but the rest of the site comes off really ... pretentious.
I'm not seeing it, what seems pretentious to you? I thought it was all pretty standard for an agency like that, see it everywhere.
Gorgeous. The why we make section is wonderful.
It creates a feeling of free spirits and innovation.
Definitely, I find the animations very simple yet metaphorical.
The opening sentence doesn't read too well, nice site otherwise.
Not a fan of client logos everywhere, who cares?
Speechless.
Interesting...no logo branding is present. You only see their name in the beginning here http://www.codeandtheory.com/why-we-make
Love the "Why we make" section. However, I can't help but read the homepage as one sentence "Why we make the the things we make says a lot about us." Which doesn't exactly make sense as a sentence. I know that isn't the intent from hovering and seeing the additional text, but that's what I get when I first load the page.
That is the intent of the homepage though. The period after ABOUT US and the SAYS A LOT section make it clear that it's forming a sentence.
I mean it's a bit awkward to repeat "we make" but it still works as a sentence and I like it.
I really love their color palette. You don't see a lot of juicy browns and creams done well on the web these days.
That's a stunner.
