I like the idea and see the appeal of it as a secondary portfolio. The only thing i'm thinking to myself is that "was dribbble ever supposed to be an actual portfolio?" The 400x300 medium isn't very flexible when trying to showcase some stuff.
I always thought it is more of in-process medium to get feedback rather than just showcase work (sadly it has mostly become an appreciation platform).
Still awesome stuff!
I agree that it should be more secondary--I was thinking of putting it on a subdomain of my site and then linking to it as a showcase of Dribbble work (as soon as I actually put some up, that is).
Am I the only one missing the mark? I thought Dribbble was about posting your work in progress, not sure how that equates to a full portfolio.
I think this fills the gap between a coming soon page and a custom portfolio site (you know, that site you'll get to eventually when you're less busy). It's like a design-focused about.me
Perfect: A designers about.me.
We're hoping to bridge the gap soon between just being a glorified coming soon page! :)
Nice service, but a portfolio Dribbble shots doth not make.
Love the "Your Mom's favorite designer." Nice work!
Lol, yea love the she has the contact info, too.
Haha...thanks. I am a fan of it too! :)
Really, really cool. The only thing I would add to it is custom domains.
Ya! I think they're adding them. Their creator has his running on a custom domain: http://m1k3.net/
says right in the header: "We'll be unlocking custom domains in the near future"
They exist and will be out soon :) http://imandrewcohen.com
Haha..I see what you did there
It's worked into the product but we haven't deployed the actual UI for players to add their domains. We'll be deploying them soon!
I'm really glad to hear that. Will they be free or paid? You've done an absolutely amazing, top-notch, stellar job with this. Really excited to see where this goes--I foresee that it will blow the fuck up if you market it well on Twitter and Dribbble.
What does the name signify? I don't use a Mac.
Cmd + Space is a shortcut for the spotlight on mac.
...which is the system search feature.
This is brilliant! The onboarding was super painless. Can't wait until the custom domain option. http://cmdspace.com/gabadilla
awesome on boarding, but i'm not sure how the product is any different than just using dribbble as your portfolio.
Less Dribbble, more you.
Exactly, Kyle. Exactly!
tweeted michael about some LinkedIn profiles having /pub/ instead of /in/ so he will be fixing it tomorrow in case anyone having the same error.
This is amazing, took me less than a min. A great SPACE to quickly showcase your WIP works! http://cmdspace.com/madebyjw
Here's mine! http://cmdspace.com/nokadota
This is fantastic!
Pretty fun! http://cmdspace.com/amotion
How did you get the tags to show up under your 'bio'?
Go to your account settings. The tags are "Your Skills".
Exactly. Once you add them you can log into your CMD+SPACE account request one manual sync with your dribbble account per day, or we'll sync it once every other day or so.
That's our default text if you don't have a description on your dribbble account :). If you go in and add a description, you can then log into your CMD+SPACE account and request one manual dribbble sync per day (or we sync it automatically every other day or so)
Ah, ok. I thought you added that description manually :-(
Just kidding, I'll add a description. Nice service you have launched.
What a great idea! http://cmdspace.com/derrrick
Damn this looks very similar to mine. I might have to update my site now! www.jmortell.com
Haha :) both look fresh. We'll have custom domains and background images out soon!
This is pretty flippin' cool :) http://cmdspace.com/kylietimpani
Very nice. Would love to be able to shuffle shots around the page, but it's not the point I guess.
By the way, I'm getting some filegetcontents() error at the top of the page.
We're looking into this error now! ... you should be able to still save your portfolio and the errors should not persist. Let us know! Thanks, Jeremy.
Sweet service. Since everyone's posting theirs, here's mine: http://cmdspace.com/plada
I like it!
One thought: Only let portfolios be created by the Dribbble account owner. I was able to generate a portfolio for anyone whose Dribble username I knew.
Dribbble doesn't support oauth ... any clever ideas to validate ownership?
You could use Twitter OAuth, and then cross-reference whether the submitted Dribbble username's "submitted_twitter_username" matches.
Interesting! If !submittedtwitterusername spit back an notice to add your twitter to your dribbble first. Smart, thanks Kyle :)
Sure thing. Great service!
Really clever! http://cmdspace.com/mutlu82
This is really nice :-)
Here is mine: http://cmdspace.com/surjithctly
I think the Thumbnail hover color should be same as custom background color.
Holy s... Great job guys! Good way to show my portfolio and not looks like Dribbble :)
Love it!! Thanks, Christian
Is there a way to recover a password? I created my account and saved an email but I'm getting "We did not find that email and password combo" when trying to sign in.
I don't have a Dribbble account so I can't test this out but does CMD+SPACE allow you to add Google Analytics or any sort of traffic numbers?
We notice the need for a dribbble profile to be able to sign up ... we're doing a promotional "invite" give-away soon! Follow @michaeldick and @evandudla on twitter for updates on this :)
Is anyone else getting and error like this http://cl.ly/image/3d141v2y0243?
Ruh-oh! Haven't seen that error before... looks like avatar is being denied. Maybe try re-uploading your avatar on Dribbble - not sure if this will fix it or not. Let me know! (I'll keep looking into a fix)
Looks like changing my avatar was the trick. Thanks! Great idea!
