Obligatory scroll-hijacking comment.
Very pretty. Minimal and clean.
But, I hate the scroll hijacking. Try to scroll down and stop at the last H (american express for me) before you're taken to the full page. It just slides right by for me on my Macbook trackpad.
But, you have to remember Huge didn't design this site to be the most usable. They designed it to impress decision makers at Fortune 500 companies who will sign multi-million dollar contracts with them.
I see Teehan Lax parallels. http://www.teehanlax.com/
Teehan made it even better. The only thing that sort out in that menu is maybe the hamburger icon animation, which is not new at all (Codrops did it some months ago http://tympanus.net/Development/AnimatedSVGIcons/ ). Originality is clearly lacking on some elements.
The hover states on the timezones in the About Us section are lovely. A really nice touch.
Very reminiscent of the new Big Spaceship site in terms of use of imagery, layout, overall interaction.
I really enjoy this trend of blurring mobile and desktop layouts—points to a brighter, more flexible future for web design IMO.
Could definitely work on load times and image optimization though.
Wow that menu system is almost identical… interesting.
The huge site has been in the works for a while. The Bigspaceship site only launched recently. I can assure it was designed before anyone knew about the bigspaceship site. It does have a full screen takeover menu but that's not exactly new.
To be clear, I wasn't implying that this was a rip-off; it was more of a commentary on the popularization of these kinds of layouts and navigation systems. I think it's really lovely.
It looks extremely similar to the Odopod too. (Once you get past the scrolly stuff).
I thought the same thing too.
This is great, love the treatment of the "H" to show different case studies.
Love the first reason to work there: "Get paid for giving a shit."
Also, while I'm not fan of the scroll-hijacking on desktop, on iPhone the revealing effect as you drag is so slick.
Nailed it. Looks incredible on retina display. Might be some resizing issues on smaller viewports though.
stop hijacking my scroll!
This site looks fantastic on large displays, refreshing to see agencies embracing screens beyond laptop screens
Agreed, it's really playing to the demographic of designers/office employees.
Its also good future proofing, there may come a time where the average site user is using the web on TV screens also.
I like the smaller details. Like the menu icon morphing into a cross and the local times under each office location.
Scrolling on mobile is a very sluggish though.
It looks pretty amazing on retina. Just sayin'
Ooh I'm so jealous!
It's interesting that it's effectively a "mobile" site at all screen sizes.
Really love their work and style, one of my favourite agencies.
so, uh. they're claiming the letter H as their logo? bold move.
Very close in design and feel to Teehan & Lax.
Traffic overload. Site is down.
I am a big fan of this navigation trend
I really like their new site, and Huge seems like a super fun place to work at.
Did they really trademark the phrase "Make something you love" ? Pretty blatant rip off from Brooklyn Beta...
Huge has been around longer than Brooklyn Beta.
Right, but this trademarked tagline has not.
The only thing I thought was weird at first glance was how the sections have "play buttons" on the top videos... that just go ahead and play anyways (with the button still floating on top). Just kill the play button up there.
But yeah, overall the site is very attractive and well-executed.
Also... LOL at their article on Responsive Design going all loco when the window is small :-x
Awesome.
I get a 404. Is everything working OK for you guys?
Yeah it all works for me
You jokers are hogging the bandwidth.
It's totally fux0rd (as one might say)
Love it!
