Anyone here use Toptal?

I've heard good things about this platform and wondering if anyone has transitioned to a part time/full time freelancer using it. If so, which companies have you worked with? How long are the projects? What is the screening/interview process?

I'm a member of the Toptal network. It's a good source of projects. I've worked mostly with startups but there are companies of all sizes. Project length also varies from a couple of weeks to 12 months or more. Projects can be full-time, part-time or hourly. The admission process is this one: https://www.toptal.com/top-3-percent. For a designer, it looks like this: - initial interview to review background and English language proficiency - portfolio review - demo project - demo project presentation and final verdict

If you'd like to signup, you can use my referral link (wink-wink) https://www.toptal.com/#engage-exclusively-learned-ui-designers

If you have any questions, lmk. I'm also calin_balea on Skype.

Thats a pretty intensive process. I've already spent a lot of time in the past going through it once and stopped due to some personal issues I had to take care of. How long does it take for you to go from start to finish?

It's a lengthy process but I looked at it as an investment. Once you're in, there's no expiration date on your membership. In my case, with all the waiting, it was about 2 or 3 weeks. Don't remember exactly but I didn't feel that it's too much work.

I refuse to look at toptal after seeing how much they spammed here on DN. It just left a bad impression on me so I have very negative connotations

Is this a new type of spam?
